The 2007 Meeting

I’ve had requests to write the short version of meeting notes. The board was pleased with the turn out this year. However we do wish everyone could attend all the time, but that’s a bit optimistic.

After we went though the secretary’s and treasure’s reports The Santa Fe Agency was introduced and they had a little introduction of their sales strategy and answered questions from the floor. I hope all that attended where convinced that we made the right choice in agents.

Harry Montoya was introduced and he explained that the county was still interested in buying land from the grant. He also answered a few questions from the floor.

A committee group was re-established for the County Community Center.

The election was concluded and the new board members are.

President Guy Eden
Secretary Ray Roybal
Treasure James Roybal
Member Carlos Ortiz
Member Margie Trujillo

Some of these names may be misspelled but this is the way they where spelled on the information I received. It appears two names are not on the list but unless there is a lost page I wouldn’t know their name. This information comes from (Owners of the Jacona Grant Under the 1928 Decree of the District Court) exhibit “H” page 39. (*) indicates that the original share is still an undivided share. We still have some more full shares but I can’t be sure that just connecting one name to another is enough for an audit. If you recognize any name that your sure is an undivided share let me know and I will make that adjustment to the list.

Jacona Land Grant: The land, the heirs and the future

It's done to read this story, go to this link. (Jacona Land Grant: The land, the heirs and the future ) I was pleased the way the story came out. We talked about so much, we could have created a novel. This was a fair compromise. So buy the paper or go to the link.

The Picture is east of The Rocky Mountain Bar or east of Jacona Grant.

Santa Fe New Mexican Story Sunday

I think the Santa Fe New Mexican will print our story Sunday July 2, 2006. If you don’t have access to the paper you may have friend that will buy one for you. Or you can check this link. (Santa Fe New Mexican) I’m not sure what they will write about and may not be on the Sunday paper. But they said they where going to try to get it out on Sunday.

State can't prosecute Indians on private lands within pueblos, court says

Link to Santa Fe New Mexican

This is a story I thought many of you out of state shareholders may want to read. The Jacona Grant is not within Indian Territory. This is what makes the Grant so appealing to new homes and buisness.

This picture is part of Jacona Plaza one of the oldest homes in US. I refer to this Plaza as Don Ignacio Plaza.
